Resistance forces launched a midnight rocket attack on Taungoo Air Base (Kaytumadi) in Bago Region, targeting the facility with 12 rounds of 107mm rockets.
According to the Brave Warriors for Myanmar (BWM), 10 rockets successfully hit their intended targets during the Saturday night assault.
A BWM official told MPA, “The strikes targeted aircraft storage facilities and air traffic control towers. All rockets hit their designated targets within Taungoo Air Base.”
Details of the damage inside the airbase are still under investigation.
The rockets were launched at 12:05 a.m. on Saturday. In response, Taungoo Air Base fired two rounds of what is believed to be 120mm heavy artillery—one at 12:09 a.m. and another at 12:20 a.m.
“Their response was arbitrary. Thankfully, all of our team members retreated safely without any casualties,” the source added.
In its announcement, the BWM stated that this operation, the sixth attack on Taungoo Air Base, was carried out as a symbolic mission on Myanmar’s Independence Day to support the people’s struggle for freedom.
The mission was a joint effort led by BWM and included the Mountain Knight Civilian Defense Forces (MKCDF), the Anti-Coup People’s Liberation Force (ACPLF), and the Northern Than Taung Special Region Group.
