The Pyu Saw Htee militia group, supported by the military junta, was reportedly forced to flee from Thar Yar Myaing Village (Tha Put Su) in Mandalay Region’s Taungtha Township following an attack by the People’s Defense Force (PDF).
The resistance forces launched a surprise attack around 9 a.m. on Tuesday on over 10 members of the Pyu Saw Htee militia encamped in a house in the northeastern part of the village.
Phargyi, a military commander from the western wing of the Taungtha Township Defense Team, told MPA, “We were slightly late in launching the attack, so they had already begun fleeing. There were about 11 of them, including Tha Put Su Pyu Saw Htee militia leader Aung Htun Oo. This limited our opportunity to engage.”
The Pyu Saw Htee troops reportedly retreated to a military base in Wea Laung Village and a Pyu Saw Htee stronghold in Hta Naung Kone.
After the operation, resistance forces seized 34 military uniforms along with other supplies.
The assault was a joint effort by the Taungtha Township Defense Team, Burmese Guerrilla Force-Myingyan (BGF), Battalion 5 of Nyaung-U District, Nyaung-U Defense Team, and the People’s Liberation Army (PLA).
