The Karenni Army (KA) has launched a series of drone attacks on the Myanmar military junta’s outpost located on Wanmalan Hill in Bawlakhe Township, Karenni State, according to Colonel Phone Naing, Adjutant General of the KA.
KA and resistance forces initiated an offensive to seize the military post at Wanmalan Hill in Bawlakhe Township on November 1. However, the military deployed air support to defend the post, preventing its capture, and drone strikes are reportedly continuing as part of the ongoing assault.
“They routinely resort to airstrikes whenever we attempt to capture a base. During the offensive to capture the Shartaw outpost, they dropped nearly 1,000 bombs, sometimes releasing up to 30, 60, or even 100 bombs in a single strike,” Colonel Phone Naing told MPA.
Despite the military’s airstrikes, no casualties have been reported among the resistance fighters, and attacks on the Wanmalan Hill post are ongoing as of today, November 4.
“For now, we are solely using drones to attack the Wanmalan post,” Colonel Phone Naing stated at around 3 p.m. Monday.
In June of this year, a coalition of Karenni forces successfully seized other significant posts in Bawlake Township, including the Mei Sa Laung Mountain post, Yae Kyaw post, and Htu Chaung post.
MPA has also discovered that the junta military is using air support to defend both the Wanmalan Hill post and the 12-Mile Hill post, which remain under their control in Bawlake Township.
