A drone strike by the People’s Defense Force (PDF) targeted junta soldiers stationed at a gas pipeline in Natogyi Township, Mandalay Region, resulting in the deaths of two soldiers and injuries to three others, according to reports.
The Natogyi Township People’s Defense Team reported that resistance forces launched a drone strike, dropping four bombs on soldiers keeping watch over the gas pipeline east of Htanzin Village in Natogyi Township, Mandalay Region, around noon on Monday.
According to a drone operator, “Only a few soldiers are stationed close to the gas pipeline while most of them reside at houses near the gas pipeline where civilians no longer live. The first bomb dropped right into their gambling den in front of their houses, killing two instantly.”
The military fired a mortar, and a vehicle arrived to transport the casualties following the attack.
“We don’t know the exact details. The vehicle went in, probably heading toward Natogyi Town since no nearby clinic exists,” he added.
The Natogyi Township People’s Defense Team, Myingyan District Battalion 8, and the Myingyan District drone unit collaborated in this mission with all PDF fighters reportedly withdrawing without injury.
MPA could not independently verify the casualties of the junta soldiers.
