Reports indicate that the Myanmar junta launched three bombing runs this morning on Namhkam, a town under TNLA’s control in Northern Shan State.
The military launched the bombing runs near Loihsar Village and the Manwein Bridge in Namhkam Township around 7:30 AM today (October 27). There are no detailed reports yet of any casualties, according to some residents of Namhkam.
“Junta aircraft dropped bombs three times. After that, it came back and flew overhead six times. It happened suddenly, so some people in the market and some shop owners were in panic. Some people fled, while others closed their shops,” a woman from Aung Mingalar Ward, Namhkam told MPA.
Since today marks the first anniversary of Operation 1027, the military council forces targeted Namhkam, under TNLA control, and the MNDAA controlled-Laukkai.
During the bombing in Namhkam, China reportedly fired warning shots from its side.
“After the first round of bombing, China fired warning shots. They were concerned that the bombs might cross into their territory. For now, as the bombs hit Loihsar near New Camp, people around the area have become less active,” said a woman from Kawngtat Ward, Namhkam.
The military dropped bombs on the pagoda near the city center and Hokat Ward on September 6, resulting in 11 deaths, including a pregnant woman, and 13 injuries.
