The Myanmar junta troops raiding Pakokku Township, Magway Region, have reportedly killed at least eight civilians over five days.
A military column of around 300 soldiers left the Infantry Division 101 based in Pakokku Town on October 21. Since then, it has begun raids and looting civilian property in Pakokku Township, according to a member of the People’s Defense Team in Pakokku.
“We’ve heard that over eight civilians were killed on October 22 and 23. The exact villages and identities of the victims are yet to be confirmed,” the source told MPA.
The junta column has displaced over 10,000 residents from Shwetantit, Sinmin, Kun, Daungsar, Hnawkone, Kinmunkhar, Natkyun, Hpayarkone, Seikkantharyar, Magyipinpu, Hnawsu, Kyunnyogyi, Kunchansu, Myinkyun, and Meitawhla villages.
“Junta troops are overrunning from village to village, taking civilians’ property and causing destruction. Currently, the column is in Kone village,” the source added.
Due to the rising number of displaced populations, there is a growing need for aid.
