PDF forces launched a close-range attack at midnight on the Myinmu Police Station and a school occupied by the military in Sagaing Region.
The junta troops deployed in the Myinmu Police Station and No. 1 Basic Education High School were assaulted by PDFs’ close-range attack around 1 AM on October 17 with the skirmish lasting 20 minutes, according to the Dog Killers People’s Defence Force Myinmu (DKPDF-MMU).
“The police station is just next to the school. We mainly targeted the police station. We don’t know the exact number of casualties. The junta troops have been active and disturbing the town. They think we’re scared as we didn’t do anything to them. Our main goal was to show them that we can act and we didn’t do so because we didn’t want to,” Comrade Nyi Nyi from Dog Killers People’s Defence Force Myinmu (DKPDF-MMU) told MPA.
The military responded by firing heavy weapons during the attack, and the PDFs managed to seize an unexploded RPG round.
“They arbitrarily fired heavy artillery. One 60-mm shell landed in the market, and another one outside the market. They also fired an RPG in our direction, but it didn’t explode. We even managed to capture it,” the source added.
There were no reports of tightened security measures in the town, and public activities remained as usual by dawn on October 17 after the attack.
The attack was a joint operation by Dog Killers People’s Defence Force Myinmu (DKPDF-MMU), Moe Nyo Revolution Force (MNRF), and Company 2 of the Sagaing Township Defense Force. All PDF comrades were able to retreat without casualties.
