The military reportedly launched airstrikes on Tabayin Town in Sagaing Region, suspecting the presence of PDF forces.
Two airstrikes were carried out by the military on Tabayin Town at around 11:30 PM on October 17, according to the Tabayin Township People’s Defense Team (Pa Ka Pha).
“A clash occurred west of the Tabayin Township Police Station yesterday morning. So, they probably carried out the attack, assuming there were PDFs in the town. But, neither our members nor civilians were harmed,” the in charge of military affairs from Tabayin Township People’s Defense Team, told MPA.
Although civilian homes might have been damaged due to the airstrikes, it is difficult to confirm the details, the source added.
Local defense forces attacked members of the junta’s forces as they left the Tabayin Township Police Station at around 8:30 AM on October 17. During the attack, one soldier was killed, two were injured, and one was captured alive, along with an MA1 rifle, according to the report from the Tabayin Township People’s Defense Team.
The junta troops set fire to civilian homes in Tabayin Town at around 9:30 AM on October 17 after the clash.
Joint defense forces initially captured Tabayin Town on the morning of August 18 and retreated from the town since the junta launched airstrikes with helicopter airlifting reinforcements in the evening.
