The State Administration Council (SAC) Military carried out a second airstrike on Ywathitkone Monastery in Pauk Township, Magway Region, resulting in injuries to two civilians.
According to Anyarmyay Allied Force, a military aircraft dropped two 300-pound bombs on Ywathitkone village, Pauk Township, at around 1 PM on 9 October.
“This is the second time bombs have been dropped here. The first time, SAC Military dropped two 300-pound bombs on the monastery, which was already in ruins. This time, the damage is not severe. However, four nearby houses were destroyed, and two civilians living in one of them, who were friends, were injured,” Ko Bobo Thant Zin, a spokesperson for Anyarmyay Allied Force told MPA.
People Defense Force (PDF) provided medical treatment to the injured two men, both around 40 years old. As of this morning (10 October), their condition is no longer considered critical.
“Since the first airstrike severely damaged the monastery, no one has lived there since. In the past, refugees from Myingyan Township stayed there for two or three days at a time. However, after the initial attack, no one came to stay anymore, and the area has been abandoned. The damage from this latest attack is not as extensive as before,” he added.
In the previous airstrike of SAC Military on Ywathitkone village in Pauk Township around 11 AM on 7 August, a 30-year-old man named U Zin was killed, and 13 civilians, including five children, were injured.
