Revolutionary forces have reportedly surrounded and blockaded Mying in Magway Region.
Approximately 70% of the Mying Township area has fallen under the control of revolutionary forces. According to reports, junta forces remain stationed at the city police station, township administration office, Economic bank, the town’s entrance gate, and Koesaung Monastery in the town.
“The revolutionary forces have blockaded the area around Mying Town. Junta forces manage to patrol only a few times,” Ko Bobo Thant Zin, the information officer of the A-nyar Myay Coalition Forces, told MPA.
Due to the casualties that the town would sustain, Myaing has not yet been attacked and seized as they believe that seizing the town without the ability to hold and manage it would be futile, according to the officer of Mying People’s Defense Team (Pa Ka Pha), Bo Latyar.
“These soldiers (the junta forces) are runners in battles. If we launch attacks, they’ll either surrender with a white flag or be killed if they don’t. They rarely leave their positions. We are just cleaning up the outskirts,” he stated.
It is estimated that around 240 soldiers and police are stationed in Mying and the surrounding areas, including the villages of Kan Ni, Thayetkan, Thayet Kwe, and Twinma Pyu Villages, as well as the No. 2 industrial zone.
“We’ve already successfully attacked and seized the most important military camps and Pyu villages. Ground forces no longer come. They’ll only be able to approach by air,” he added.
In 2024, a total of 13 junta soldiers and police officers from Mying Township surrendered.
Key military camps in Mying Township have been attacked and captured, with the PDF forces capturing Wetpote Pyusawhtee Village on August 8.
