In Taungtha Township, Mandalay Region, the military conducted an airstrike in Kywetalin Pyu Saw Htee Village which has been seized by PDF, resulting in a civilian death.
Around 8:30 PM on August 26, the military dropped six bombs on a monastery in Kywetalin Pyu Saw Htee Village using a Mi-35 helicopter, according to the People’s Strike Committee – Taungtha.
“This time, they dropped a 500-pound bomb and five 200-pound bombs, killing a civilian and injuring a PDF member and two civilians,” the source from People’s Strike Committee-Taungtha told MPA.
The Pyu Saw Htee Village has fallen under the control of local defense forces since July 14, 2024.
“No junta soldiers remain in the village since the capture of PDFs. The whole populace of the village was not Pyu Saw Htee members since then. With their absence, only civilians are residing in the village,” the source added.
Since August 10, defense forces have been launching Myingyan District Special Operation (MDSO) in Natogyi, Myingyan, and Taungtha Townships, which caused all the departments except General Administration, Fire Service, and Police Station, to be defunct.
