Revolutionary Forces have successfully taken control of Thabeikkyin in Mandalay Region, according to the report of Military Region – 1 on August 26.
On the morning of August 25, Thabeikkyin was attacked and seized, capturing Lieutenant Colonel Soe Min Thu alive with 68 various firearms.
Military Region-1 also stated that Thabeikkyin had been attacked since August 17. Despite the town being seized on August 19, the clashes continued since junta troops retreated to Myo Oo Hill Stupa.
During the attack, the military council deployed air raids, dropping more than 70 bombs using jets and over 150 bombs with Y-12 aircraft including firings from two Mi-35 Helicopters.
The town-seizing operation captured 18,669 rounds of ammunition, 42 different bombs, 36 RPG rounds, three Jammers, one communication device, and other equipment, with four deaths of PDF members, according to the reports.
The capture of Thabeikkyin town was coordinated by the Pyin Oo Lwin District Battalions 1, 2, Battalions 509,510, and 512, Mandalay District Battalion 5, Mandalay Regional Drone Force, No 1 Shwebo District Command Drone Unit, Kanbalu District W-89 Force, Kanbalu District People’s Defense Team AA Gun Force and Thabeikkyin Township People’s Defense Team under Pyin Oo Lwin District Command.
Regarding the aftermath of the town-seizing operation, attempts to reach PDF forces stationed in Thabeikkyin were unsuccessful.
