Ko Ye Htet Aung, leader of Young Myanmar Ranger (YMR), who was given life sentence by the terrorist military on November 23, yet is still going to face trials at a military tribunal and a township court.
He was given life sentence by a military tribunal in South Dagon township on section 50(i) and he still has to face cases at Eastern Dagon and Dagon Seikkan townships, his lawyer said.
“This sentencing is by the South Dagon township. By the military tribunal. There are still in Dagon Seikkan and Eastern Dagon townships. It’s sued on 19(f) in Eastern Dagon. But we don’t know what they would sue him on by Dagon Seikkan as it’s the military tribunal”, his lawyer said.
Ko Ye Htet Aung, leader of YMR which is one of the urban guerilla strikes in Yangon, was arrested in September and was kept at the interrogation camp for so long and he was so tortured his one ear has gone deaf.
“At the interrogation, there were torture wounds. His one ear had gone completely deaf. And there were lots of knife wounds on his thigh and he had been struck and beaten severely’, said one close to him.
Within a week of his arrest, there were arrests of those close to him as well.
Due to the torture wounds at the interrogation camp, Ko Ye Htet Aung also got trauma and attempted to commit suicide more than once.
“At the interrogation, his mind and body were completely apart and he attempted to take his life. He went insane about two or three times. Finally, as he couldn’t bear any more torture, he attempted suicide about two or three times”, said a friend of his.
Since Ko Ye Htet Aung who is an orphan is currently cut contact by his guardians, his friends and those close to him are taking care of delivering food. But due to issues like the census (guest list), it’s extremely difficult to give him a food visit.
