The National Unity Government (NUG) Prime Minister’s Office has held urgent discussions with People’s Defense Force (PDF) battalions in the Sittaung River area of Bago Region to address critical needs and plan future military operations.
Officials from the NUG Prime Minister’s Office visited the Sittaung River area, controlled by People’s Defense Forces (PDFs) in Bago Region, to provide support for the immediate needs of PDF battalions, according to an NUG report.
A resistance fighter from the Karen National Union’s Brigade 5 stated, “NUG officials responsible for support have intensified their efforts since early 2025. The Prime Minister visited PDF battalions in January. This time, although the Prime Minister did not join, the Deputy Minister led the delegation to provide assistance to the Bago Region. The NUG also has strategic aspirations for the Sittaung River Valley.”
During the visit, NUG officials met with PDF members operating in Bago Region, where PDF representatives shared updates on the ground situation, ongoing military operations, and their battalions’ needs.
The delegation included NUG Deputy Minister of Labor U Kyaw Ni, Prime Minister’s Office Secretary Daw Kyi Pyar, Prime Minister’s Office Spokesperson U Nay Phone Latt, Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs and Immigration U Akar Myo Htet, and Yangon Region People’s Defense Team Leader U Naung Yoe.
In January, NUG Prime Minister Mahn Win Khaing Than and his team also met with Cobra resistance fighters and Yangon PDF battalions.
